The Gibson Legacy: Upholding ServiceMaster’s Values from Father to Son

The Gibson Family is synonymous with a multigenerational legacy of dedication within the ServiceMaster Clean network, beginning in 1970 with family patriarch Charles Gibson. Charles was working for a management firm that called on hospitals and he’d always see ServiceMaster there. After hearing a commercial on the radio about franchise opportunities, Charles bought his first ServiceMaster Clean business, and a legacy unknowingly began.

Charles brought his son Frank Gibson into the business, and he has been a part of the ServiceMaster story since 1971, growing up with the ethos of the company and learning the business from the ground up. Frank’s deep-rooted experience in the industry, starting from scrubbing carpets to leading a franchise, exemplifies the growth and dedication that company founder Marion E. Wade Award envisioned, earning a 2024 Marion E. Wade Award, the highest honor a ServiceMaster franchise can receive, recognizing outstanding quality of work, customer service, growth, and community involvement.

Over the years, Charles’s other son, Charles Jr. also joined the business, running franchises in both Harrisburg and Philadelphia, PA. Both Gibson brothers have also brought their own sons into the business, with plans for them to take over upon their dads’ retirement. This multigenerational success story stretches across Pennsylvania, showcasing a commitment to the brand that spans decades.

As we celebrate Father’s Day this weekend, let’s think about The Gibson Family and the incredible legacy they are building for their family in Pennsylvania and for the entire ServiceMaster Clean business.

“You have to know one big thing and stick with it. The leaders who had one very big idea and one very big commitment. This permitted them to create something. Those are the ones who leave a legacy.” – Irving Kristol, American Journalist and Writer.
